FAMOUS
SCIENTISTS AND INVENTORS Mini-Project
Due:
Tuesday, November 20th.
Objective: To
research a famous scientist or inventor in the areas of science, technology,
engineering, or math and create and present a poster about them!
Please
see the questions for information about this project!
What do I need to
include in my poster?
Your poster needs to answer the following questions about your
chosen scientist or inventor:
o
What was their role in science, technology,
engineering, or math?
o
What got them started?
o
Why was science, technology, engineering, or
math important to this person? OR How did they believe it could help people?
o
What characteristics did this person have
which helped them accomplish their goals?
o
What are ten cool facts about this person?
What else should my
poster include?
Your poster should also
include interesting images of the person and their contributions, your sources,
a title, a “press me” button (see below), and your name!
What about my
presentation?
We are presenting this
in a wax museum format on the Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Your
presentation is just a brief summary of your person and contributions, probably
no more than a minute in length. When people visit our “museum” they will press
the button on your poster, and you will “come to life.” You may use a notecard,
and you may dress-up and present as your person!
Do
I have work time in class?
You will have from
Tuesday, November 13th to Monday, November 19th to work
in class. However, it is recommended that if you are on not far enough with
your poster by Friday, that your work on it at home!
What is the timeline
for working?
Tuesday: Choose and
research a person.
Wednesday: Research and
planning my poster setup.
Thursday: Type and
print information for poster. Begin to put together my poster.
Friday: Finish putting
together my poster.
Monday: Planning my
presentation and practicing.
